A fascinating and beautifully detailed universe, with vivid imagery and a fantastic cast, this is a book I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. My only complaint? That I have to wait for the next book.

That is absolutely true of Shards of Earth. A key element of the story is the inability of human politicians to unite against an existential threat until it is way too late.
